Hi there

I live in a house which i rent off my father in-law and i want to look at buying it off him. I've had the house valued and it is worth around 250k, after getting some mortgage quotes i can't get the full amount i need. My idea is to offer a sum of 150k and pay the remainder off in installments in an allotted time. My questions are would i need an estate agent, sollicitors, surveys for a mortgage and can anybody see any problems with my idea.

Do not ever deal with any kinda business with your realtives. It will definitely ruin the relationship in one way or the other.
