You will observe that the Big Baby Taylor will take some abuse. It is very rugged and a dependable guitar. As the Spruce top is very fragile, I do wish that the guitar had a protective binding around the to edge to protect the end grain of the top. A sharp knock to this end grain could cause a crack to develop. The Sapele HPL sides are built for durability and they will not crack or react to humidity changes nearly as much as would solid wood plates.
